Levellers 5 - Big Friday EP

Their debut EP for probe plus was released 1990, levellers 5 went on to record two seminal albums (Springtime & clatter) and a few singles, they changed their name when the Levellers became popular because it created so much confusion. As Calvin Party they released a further four albums & it's on the early 90s albums 'life, and other sex tragedies' and 'lies lies and government' where it all came together.

Squarepusher – My Red Hot Car EP

Squarepusher lets the tight sparse beats and filthy bass fight for your attention on each one of the dynamite songs on here. I still hear new things in it every time i hear it. The EP has a hidden track which kicks in around 26'32" on track 4.

Tame Impala -Tame Impala EP

On this debut self titled EP the Tame Impala sound is equally informed by The Beatles as it is beat poetry, Turkish prog as it is by Turkish delight, English folk as much as homeless folk, a breathe of fresh air that reeks of all of these at times and none at others. Psychedelic acid folk-groove intended for moving your body to or keeping still and observing other forms of movement.

V/A. Black Is Soul - Pama Singles Collection Vols 1 & 2 (Re-up)

The Pama label was a London-based operation in the late 60s who cut and licensed some of the finest funk, soul, rocksteady & boss reggae tunes coming out of Jamaica and England! These killer comps have been a regular soundtrack to hundreds of soul and bluebeat parties over the years, originally released as two vinyl LPs overflowing with crucial pama 7''s that you'd have an expensive time finding. This CD issue contains all the tracks from the two vinyl volumes, plus 3 bonus tracks.

CHAOS UK - Short Sharp Shock

I first heard CHAOS UK when they played with fellow bristolians Amebix in 83/4, Short Sharp Shock was their second long player (released1984) & manages to capture their urgent misshapen fuzzed out live sound, a sound that would be given the hardcore tag in the mid eighties. Although nowhere near as challenging as the No Sanctuary 12'' from Amebix, it still stands up as a canny essential hardcore album. Enjoy!!
