Robyn Hitchcock & the Egyptians - Perspex Island

One of the most original minds to emerge from the late 70 post punk scene with some of the most delightful sensory and intellectually satisfying experiences imaginable. Robyn Hitchcock is a font of exhilarating and inspirational melodies that thrill and excite and the source of a seemingly endless stream of magical words that simultaneously evoke and populate a glorious landscape filled with images that effortlessly range from the familiar to the surreal. His songs always astonish and charm. His voice is assured and compelling. He is a gifted musician that attracts equally skilled musical accomplices who collaborate to produce priceless gems such as this one.

Damages - Tarbabys EP

Somerset band offer up a loose and reckless approach to low-fi punk on this d-i-y EP, four tracks of captivating quirky hardcore with maybe a nod towards the new york anti-folk scene, but it's on the final song 'i was the one with the claw(remember me)' that i'm reminded of the seminal New Bad Things , with it's blurred guitars, erratic rhythm section & wonderful scat vocal. enjoy.

Doc Wör Mirran - Guitarred And Feathered

DWM projects began when Bernard H. Worrick and Joseph B. Raimond moved to Nürnberg Germany in 1985, with an open membership band philosophy from the start (Jello Biafra featured on a few LPs) meant that each release was different to the last and blurred the boundaries between genres, Lofi Funk, jazz -core, Ambient Experimental, spoken word craziness.. and members also wrapped every release with unique and handmade covers. DWN were also extremely active in the 80s cassette culture and mail art scene, Guitarred And Feathered was their 100th release & features Joseph B. Raimond, Ralf Lexis, Adrian Gormley, Frank Abendroth, Laurent Gabiot, Jeandra Raimond, & just oozzzes lovely avant-kraut sound(e)scapes. Released in 2008 on their own MissmanagemenT label within MT Undertainment devoted exclusively to the recordings, literature and artwork by DWM and its various members.

THE ASTRONAUTS - Peter Pan Hits the Suburbs *OUT NOW * Reissue on Vinyl LP

THE ASTRONAUTS - Peter Pan Hits the Suburbs LP

Reissue of this long lost masterpice from 1981 originally released by Bulge / Genius records. The Astronauts were (and are, after close to 30 years and a history of lineup shifts only bested by The Fall) the definitive psych-punk ensemble, though even that title doesn't do 'em justice. Their sound culminates the post '77 punk dabblings of head forbears Twink (his 'Do it 77' single and The Rings' 'I wanna be free' platter), Nik Turner (the outstanding Inner City Unit and the 'punkier' late 70's bits of Hawkwind plays on this seminal album) and Daevid Allen's planet Gong with fellow acid-punkers Here and Now all woven in with an earlier Robert Wyatt / mellow candle-y psych folk vibe... While not sounding like any of those things at all. Get it? The album's range is gigantic: from dissonant punk a la Fall ('Everything stops for baby'), to epic progressive folk ('Protest song', 'Baby sings folk songs'), ditties ('Sod us'), hard-rock ('The Traveller'), pop ('How green was my valley'), garage / surf ('Still Talking'), industrial ('How long is a piece of string'), and set to arrangements that employ synths, flute, saxophone, and strays into progressive or even free-form / psychedelic sections. The icing on the cake is the mature statement of the lyrics, a cynical and bitter exploration of the lives of simple men, miles away from the generic horror / punk overtones that permeated most of alternative albums at the time. As a bonus from the original press this reissue includes a lyric sheet.

Daevid Allen Live in 1988 - The Return

It's been awhile since i posted anything by Daevid Allen or Gong related, so here's a double CD of live acoustic gigs with Didier, Gilli Smyth and an all female band that features a number of new songs that would later appear on albums by Gongmaison, Magic Brothers & Mother Gong. Some of the recordings were originally released on the long deleted GAS tape 'Live Spring '88' and recorded at the Old Tabernacle off Portobello Road in London and in Toulon, France, which was also Daevid's first encounter with Didier Malherbe (Bloomdido Bad de Grasse) since the heady Gong days of '74/'75. The gigs were amongst the first that Daevid Allen played in the UK following his return from an eight year spell at home in Australia. Why not spend this weekends Full Moon Equinox at Zero's Unconventional Gather-In

Poisoned Electrick Head - The Hanged Man (blueprint) 1996

The third album from Poisoned Electrick Head(also known amongst their fans as the Lecky 'eads), features more of their intoxicating blend of quirky psychedelic-punk and rhythmic gymnastics that has earned them a massive underground following. Poisoned Electrick Head have followed their own maverick course, neither collapsing under the weight of media attention nor atrophying from it's neglect. If you're a fan of 'Bendy Pronk' bands like The Cardiacs, Snakefinger, Punilux and Funzig you'll simply love this , a new album I Want To Be Where The Power Is has just been released & PEH will be out playing the massive Wreck N Roll Circus Mad March Tour 2011 (alongside Skip 'Little Axe' McDonald, Here & Now, Eat Static, Spanner, Headjam, Tribazik & more)

Terminal Cheesecake - Angels in Pigtails / Oily Hot Knife 7''

This one was inspired by Roy over at Rocket Remnants who's recently posted a whole bunch of TC releases. Angels in Pigtails was their third full length album released on Pathological (a label run by Kevin Martin aka GOD, The bug,Techno Animal, King Midas Sound) in 1989, although less dub infused than their later releases, it's still a sonic blast from a band who appeared to eat LSD for breakfast and whose sound was a mesmeric riff-filled psychedelic stew( includes a wonderfully twisted cover of The Residents 'Hello Skinny'). Oily Hot Knife was released on Jackass in 1994 and sounds a lot closer to their startling dub side project Bud Alzir. enjoy!!
