Perhaps the most anarchistic band of the Ladbroke Grove Underground was the Deviants, founded and fronted by singer/writer Mick Farren, the Social Deviants, later just the Deviants, made three bizarre albums in two years. On Your Knees Earthlings is an anthology of some of the band's most chaotic material from 1967-2001. Starts off with the psychedelic "You Got To Hold On" and a Mick Farren solo tune "Trouble Coming". Then continues with other Farren gems like "Carnivorous Circle", his Bob Dylan cover "It's Alright, Ma" and "See That My Grave Is Kept Clean". A couple of other well done covers are the Stone's "Play With Fire" and Hawkwind's "Lost Johnny" (co-written by Farren & Lemmy). Simply great psych-punk.

Howdy.
Credit where credit's due: 'Trouble Coming Everyday' is a Zappa tune; right down to the "Play your harmonica, Son".
But Farren does belt out a right good version; making it entirely his own.
In fact that's a great album, 'Vampires Stole My Lunch Money', one of my old time favourites; and it features Wilko Johnson! Wow!

i was always a fairies/deviants nut,
would have liked to been at some of the pinkwind gigs... i know little about zappa mate,i bought mask replica and 200 motels when i was a youngun... beefheart blew my mind & i hated 200 motels, which put me off zappa peroid...i read somewhere that you either love zappa or beeheart but never both, which stands for me.i do have a copy of bongo fury... but i've always seen it as a sub-standard beefheart lp. Of course they both helped each other out big style, so respect to zappa.
