'Not The Wheel' is a limited edition Polish release which collates the work for films and compilations that Germany's Tarwater have produced. Unsurprisingly it's not as cohesive as the excellent 'Animals, Suns & Atoms' album. The best tracks demonstrate their arty knack for teutonic tunefulness, such as the train track rhythms of 'Expected' or the CAN inspired qualities of 'Tommy Tomorrow'. The final pieces are much better as their quirkiness is streamlined into something more vital.

I love tarwater. A band that deserves more recognition.
